Winter Language Course Challenge Form Due February 2

If you are interested in the Language Course Challenge, please pick up the Consent form at the Student Services Centre.

A mandatory meeting will be held at lunch on January 21 to provide more information about this process, please listen for announcements regarding the location grade 10, 11 and 12 students are eligible, however priority will be given to grade 12 students.

Semester 2 CBE-Learn Online Course Requests

The Virtual Form for requesting an online course with CBE-Learn for second semester will be closing next week. Please check D2L, Instagram and the Student Services Centre to find the link. 

One Act Play Festival

This festival will be held in the spring and is now looking for writers, directors, actors, designers and technicians! Next week are important meetings for all parts of the show. Check out the drama bulletin board and Instagram for more information. 

Lancers Athletics

Our basketball and wrestling teams jumped back into their seasons this week! Best of luck to our Jr Boys Basketball team as they compete in the Henry Wise Wood tournament this weekend, and to our wrestlers as they compete in their first tournament this weekend at Aberhart!

Any students interested in trying out for the Lancers Badminton team should attend the information meeting on Wed, January 14th at lunch in the aux gym. Tryouts start on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, January 28: Grade 10–12 Boys Tryouts at 7:00 AM
  • Thursday, January 29: Grade 10–12 Girls Tryouts at 7:00 AM

January Schedule

The Alberta Government has cancelled January Diploma sittings, and in response, the Calgary Board of Education has adjusted January timelines to ensure continued learning. Students will be in classes January 5-23 during regular school hours. Attendance is expected and will be taken. During this time, teachers will be working with students to teach curricular outcomes and complete any final projects and assessments.

  • Regular classes continue as scheduled. Students are expected to attend. Attendance will be taken during each class block in which students are scheduled.
  • Teachers provide targeted opportunities for continued learning and assessment.
  • No final exams for Grades 10, 11 or 12 courses will be scheduled outside of regular class time.
  • Note | January 23 is the last day of NEW instruction.

January 23 

The last day of regularly scheduled high school classes, including Specialized Classes (such as the TASC classroom).

January 26-27

  • Teachers may invite students in to gather additional evidence of student understanding and extend learning of previously taught concepts. If your student is coming in for this, the teacher will speak to the student directly.
  • No final exams for Grades 10, 11 or 12 courses will be scheduled outside of regular class time.

Grade 10's Interested in Trades and Technologies

The new Calgary Trades & Technologies Collegiate (CTTC) provides CBE high school students with hands-on opportunities to explore and experience careers in skilled trades and related technologies. 

In partnership with the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), this pathway supports:

  • Real-world experiences 
  • Hands-on training 
  • Direct exposure to industry experts 

Interested Grade 10 students can fill out the Expression of Interest form until Friday, Jan. 16.

Interested in a career as a paramedic? On Monday Jan. 19 at lunch in the Learning Commons, we will have an EMS first responder available to share their experience and provide information about Camp Courage.
