Soccer has started and we had an early win against Aberhart last week. Go Lancers! Please follow our athletics calendar on our school website and come cheer on your Lancers. Our students in our music program are returning from Los Angeles this evening. We heard they had a wonderful trip. We wish them safe travels home!
Summer School
Student Services will be live streaming into classrooms on Thursday April 18 to discuss summer school, course verifications, and course change requests for the 2024-2025 school year. At this session, students will gain access to links/QR codes to input their summer school selections. In May, counsellors will be entering these requests into the system-wide registration portal.
The presentation will be later shared on D2L, and registration links will be shared out in the Weekly Message. In the meantime, families can view the summer 2024 information for both online and in-person courses at the CBE Summer School page.
Course Withdrawal Date
The last day for students to withdraw from Semester 2 courses is Monday, April 22. Students will need to have withdrawal forms (available in Guidance) submitted to their counsellor with all required signatures (teacher, student and parent) by this date for consideration.
Ramadan Potluck
In celebration of Eid Ul-Fitr, the end of Ramadan, our student leaders planned a lovely potluck that provided wonderful food for our community. The food was delicious and we want to thank both our student leaders and their families for sharing so generously with all of us Friday afterschool. Wishing everyone good health, happiness and joy!
Empathy Club
Empathy Club is selling Texas Donut on Wednesday April 17 for $5.00. Proceeds will be donated!
School Council

Healthy Hunger
This is an optional service for families and the decision to participate is up to each family. We have not reviewed the health standards at each restaurant so we encourage families to make an informed choice.

Book Drive
This is the last week to donate to Scarlett's annual Book Drive! New and gently used donations will be collected until April 18 in the bin in the Main Office, and will be directly donated to RESET Society of Calgary's annual book sale, which helps to raise funds to support the programs RESET offers. RESET Society of Calgary is an organization that provides short and long term options to women escaping sexual abuse and domestic violence. Please help us support this amazing initiative and donate within the next week! Graduation Banquet Update
LAST DAY to purchase Grad Banquet and Dance Tickets is Wednesday, April 17, 2024 11:30 pm. Please go onto the Grad 2024 Student D2L by asking your student to log on and you will find all instructions under Content and then Banquet and Dance. Please open the Ordering Package document for instructions and the ordering URL.
Banquet and Dance tickets WILL NOT be available after this time and WILL NOT be sold at the door.
The Banquet and Dance is open to all Grade 12 students and their families and friends. EVERYONE attending this activity will need to purchase a ticket.
Make sure you hand in your Table Seating Form by Thursday, April 18 (Room 278 from 12 – 12:20 pm ONLY).

French Immersion - Cabane à Sucre

World Immunology Day at University of Calgary May 1 (11:30 – 3:30pm)
The Snyder Institute Trainee Committee, in collaboration with the Snyder Institute at the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine, is hosting an afternoon of exploration in the world of immunology and immunological research. Students are invited to participate in this inspiring and educational event in celebration of World Immunology Day.
Event Details:
- When: Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM
- Where: University of Calgary’s Foothills Campus, Clara Christie Theatre (3330 Hospital Dr. NW, Calgary, AB)
- Lunch and snacks will be provided!
Students will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the University. They will also need to catch up on any school work missed.
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Field Trip April 30 (11:15-3:30 pm)
On the afternoon of April 30, there will be a field trip to the 2024 Aviation Maintenance Engineer Skills Competition in Calgary. Bussing will be provided.
- Observe the AME completion and interact with participants
- Meet Aviation Engineers in Structures, Avionics, and Maintenance
- Hands on learning activities including Virtual Reality, riveting, drone experience, etc.
- Tour a local Aviation Maintenance Facility at the Calgary International Airport
- Learn about the many avenues of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering
- Career support services and post-secondary information on site

Community Education Services (CES)
There are a number of parent sessions coming up on various topics of interest. CES is supported by Alberta Children's Hospital and Alberta Health Services. Topics in April include: Peer relations; ADHD; Vaping; Dating Violence; Technology and Social Media; Anxiety; Videogaming and Youth as well as Resiliency.
