Winter Wonderland Spirit Week December 15-19

  • Monday December 15 -
    • Dress Up: Comfy/Cozy/PJ Day 
    • Activity: Merry Dodgemas - A dodgeball game with a festive twist in the main gym at lunch. Spectators welcome! 
    • Activity: Cookie Gram ticket sales in the morning in the front foyer. Buy a cookie(s) for your friend(s), decorate it on Wednesday December 17 at lunch in the cafeteria, and Leadership will deliver your custom decorated cookie to the recipient on Thursday December 18 in their period 2 class. Cookies are $2 each. NOTE: You must pre-purchase tickets and you must know the recipients Period 2 teacher.  
  • Tuesday December 16
    • Dress Up: Jersey Day
    • Activity: Cookie Gram ticket sales in the morning in the front foyer.     • Dress Up: Holiday Hats (any hat or toque will do!)
    • Activity: Grinch Movie at lunch in the main gym with the optional purchase of grinch themed hot chocolate (cash or debit accepted)
    • Activity: Photos with Santa and Grinch at lunch in the cafeteria hallway 
    • Activity: Art Market in the cafeteria hallway at lunch
  • Friday December 19
    • Dress Up: Ugly Sweater 
    • Activity: Photos with Santa in the front foyer in the morning 

Yearbook and Grad Photos

The last possible day for graduation photos is January 9 if you would like them to appear in the yearbook.  

February 20 is the LAST day to purchase the yearbook!  There will be no extras for sale at school in June.  Place your order for the yearbook at jostensyearbooks.com or by calling 1-877-767-5217. This is one you won’t want to miss!

Lancers Athletics

Basketball

Last weekend was our school’s first Lancer Invitational Senior Basketball Tournament. A huge congratulations to our Senior Girls team for defeating Holy Trinity Academy in the final game to win the Championship! Amazing job ladies!

Our Senior Boys had an outstanding tournament as well, making it all the way to the final and earning a second place finish against HTA. Congrats to Aadi S for earning the Sr Boys Tournament All Star Award!

Thank you to all of our coaches for putting together an amazing tournament!

Our Junior teams competed in the Central Memorial Turner Bowl last weekend, and our Junior Boys won the Championship defeating Central Memorial, Beaverbrook and Crescent Heights!  Shout out to Oliver A for earning the Tournament All Star Award.  Our Junior Girls had a strong weekend, finishing second in a close match with Crescent Heights. Congrats to Olivia H for being the Tournament All Star.

This weekend our Senior Girls will be heading to the Legends Elite Eight Tournament at All Saints, and our Senior Boys will be in the Cardinal Classic at Bishop Carroll. Good luck to all teams!

Swim Team

This Thursday our Lancers swim team competing in the CSHSAA Swim Meet at the Seton YMCA.  A huge congrats to all of our swimmers for outstanding performances! A big thank you to Ms. Domstad and Ms. Zwicker for their time and efforts coaching this season, we appreciate all that you do to make our swim team happen! Swimmers should stay tuned for information on your wrap up party.

Wrestling

Our wrestlers continue to practice and prepare as the first Senior Quad Meet will be next Wednesday night at James Fowler.  Good luck to all of our wrestlers!

Yamate Exchange

Calgary Yamate Exchange is still seeking out a few Grade 10-12 male students interested in the 2-week exchange for Hosting in April 2026 and traveling to Japan in July of 2026. We could also consider female students with brothers at home ages 13-18.

French Immersion Update

All French immersion students are invited to a traditional French breakfast and enjoy the sound of traditional French music. On Thursday morning December 18, come to room 286 from 8:15 to 9:00 and enjoy a complementary traditional French breakfast and enjoy the sound of traditional French music.

Women in Engineering Day at the UofC –  February 19, 2025 – This annual event designed to introduce Grade 10 and 11 girls and non-binary youth to the exciting world of engineering! Students find out more about the diverse array of engineering disciplines and  they get a "day-in-the-life" experience of studying engineering. See Mrs. McLeod for more information and the registration code. Only 15 Scarlett students will be permitted to attend.

UofA Getaway!

Students who are interested in learning more about university life and the UofA  Augustana Campus in Camrose, can now apply for the U of A Getaway 2026. Twenty lucky students will have a chance to stay on campus for the weekend.  Applications are due on Jan 31.

Shad Canada is a month-long summer program for grade 10 and 11 students who want to stretch their thinking, grow their potential, and join a network of future leaders. Held at post-secondary campuses across Canada, Shad blends STEAM learning with real-world challenges, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
