20 Last Day of School before Winter Break

Dear Parents & Guardians,

Please find the weekly email below.

Student Leadership Update

Helping Hampers officially kicked off on Monday December 2 and will run until Friday December 13. This is one of Scarlett’s largest and most important fundraisers. This year all donated money will be put towards building hampers of essential house-hold items, gifts, and gifts cards for 9 families in need, right in our school community. Students can donate in their Period 1 classes. With every $2 donated, students will be eligible to win some awesome prizes, including the grand prize of a $100 Amazon Gift Card. Let’s rally to ensure these families have what they need over the winter months. Thank you for your support.

Casino Parent Volunteers

A huge thank you to all the people who worked at the Casino to raise funds for our school in November. It was a busy two days and nights. A huge thank you to Shefali Geoffroy Chateau our Casino Chairperson! We have not yet learned how much was raised but we know it was a large amount. We truly appreciate everyone’s hard work. Funds will go back to support all of our students at the school! Thanks to: Tun Lwin, Sylvain Loyer, Tracy Hagen, Kim Christianson, Mary Clark, Deni Greaves, Sarah Fulwiler, Dale Larson, Lisa Hawkes, Heather Heron-Mykyte, Phil Faas, Trina Welsch, Geordie Ma, Collen Russell, Casey Lenger, Darla Wutzke, Laura Williams, Michael Williams, David Getz, Yange Zhang, Kevin Heung, Mike Walsh, Juhee Patel, Jeremy Hart, Kirk Newman, Jennifer Perrott, Keri Metzler, Aiysha Ali, Ann-Marie Phillips, Shera Peggs, Deanne Hill, Dan Perrott, Lori Vander Werf, Katalin Linge and Sheila Forbes.

Semester Two Online Courses

Student may now request a course for Semester Two with CBe-learn using the Semester Two CBe-learn Course Request Form.

Counsellors will enroll students in January once the referral software opens for concurrent registrations. Students will receive a confirmation email regarding their successful enrollment and instructions for next steps by late-January. Students should consult the CBe-learn concurrent student information page for more information prior to completing the request form. All course offerings are subject to availability.

Semester Two Course Change Requests

Students may fill out the Semester Two Course Change Request form if they are wishing to add or drop classes. This form will be open until January 17 at noon. After this, counsellors will work on balancing courses to ensure the smallest class sizes possible. Please note the following conditions:

  • We are unable to process changes based on teacher, period, peer or spare preferences.
  • All schedules are subject to change up until the first day of classes. As such, the teacher assigned may change as class balancing and teaching assignments change.
  • If students request a course they have not been recommended for, the counsellor will reach out with a Going Against Recommendation form

Drama Update

33 Neo-Futurist Plays from Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind
(33 Plays in 66 Minutes) by Greg Allen  December 4, 5 | 9, 11, 12 at 7:00pm

A rapid-fire theatrical experience where thirty short plays are performed in just sixty-six minutes. Each play is a new experience, exploring humour, heartbreak, and everything in between. The audience has a role in determining each show’s order, so every performance is unique.

Tickets for this year’s production of 33 Neo-Futurist Plays in 66 Minutes from Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind are Pay-What-You-Can (cash only) at the door on the night of the performance. You can pay whatever cash you’ve brought with you to donate to the theatre program at Scarlett. Pay $9 + the roll of a 6 sided die. That’s 10 to 15 dollars depending on your luck! The drama department officially guarantees that you will have a seat reserved SPECIFICALLY FOR YOU for this and every performance. This show has some swear words and is probably not appropriate for young children.
