Update from Student Leadership
Pink Shirt Day is happening on Wednesday February 26. Students and staff are encouraged to wear pink on this day to signify their support and commitment to creating a kind and caring environment at Scarlett. The first 200 students through the door wearing pink will receive a pink-themed treat!
Crush for Crush candy-grams will be on sale for one more day – Monday, February 10 at lunch in the cafeteria foyer. Cans of Crush are $2 each and will be delivered to period 1 classes on Wednesday February 12.
Cupids Confection will run on Wednesday February 12 in the cafeteria foyer. Valentines Day themed cupcakes will be available for purchase for $2.00, while quantities last. Cash or debit available. Come get a treaty with your sweetie!
Athletic Update
There is a Final Badminton Tryout on Tuesday Feb 11 at 7:15am. Thank you to everyone who came out to tryout!
Basketball games this week include a Feb 11 Home Game for Jr Boys – 7:30pm and Sr. Boys – 5:30pm. Cheer on your Lancers!
Wrestling will be competing on Wednesday Feb 12 at a Quad Meet at Beaverbrook. Come cheer on your Lancers! Our wrestlers represented Scarlett with pride and determination this weekend at Sir Winston Churchill. Katrina V earned a bronze medal. City Championships will be on February 28 at Seven Chiefs Sports Complex.
Please note there is a Spring Sports Meeting Feb 2 at Lunch Main Gym. Come learn about all the sports offered at Scarlett in the spring! March 10 spring sports kick off!
Language Course Challenge Applications – Deadline February 19
Language Course Challenge applications are now open for grade 12 students. The Winter 2025 languages offered are: Arabic 35, Cantonese 35, French 30-3Y, French 30-9Y, German L&C 30-3Y, Italian L&C 30-3Y, Japanese L&C 30, Mandarin L&C 30-3Y, Filipino L&C 35, Punjabi L&C 30-3Y, Spanish L&C 30-3Y and Ukrainian L&C 30-3Y. Students will be assessed on reading, writing, listening and speaking in their target language. Complete information on the Course Challenge process can be found in the Course Challenge Guide for Students & Family guide. Consent forms, found on the last pages of the guide, must be returned to the student’s guidance counsellor by Wednesday, February 19.
Course Selections for 2025-26 School Year
Student Services did a live-stream presentation into classrooms on Friday, February 7th during period 3 regarding the course selection process for the 2025-26 school year. A copy of this presentation is available on D2L for students to review. We reviewed graduation requirements, pathways and prerequisites. The course selection process opened on Friday February 7th at 2pm and will be open until Sunday, March 2nd at 11:59pm.
Summer School
Student Services has been receiving a high volume of inquiries about summer school. Summer school information for CBe-learn (online) and Chinook Learning Services (in-person) will be available in late April, and communicated to students via classroom live-stream, email, website, D2L, Instagram, and weekly message.
Healthy Hunger – Message from Parents
This is an optional service for families and the decision to participate is up to each family. We have not reviewed the health standards at each restaurant, so we encourage families to make an informed choice.
