Dear Parents and Guardians,
Please find below some important information for the upcoming week. We are thinking of all our students and families celebrating Eid al-Adha this weekend. May you find peace and happiness! Please note that yearbooks will be handed out Monday at lunch and again after school in the cafeteria. Students will need to bring their ID cards. The spring insert which includes spring sports, drama, dance and graduation, will be delivered during the exam period. We will send out an update when they arrive for pick-up times in the cafeteria.
One of our students was in the news this weekend for winning a scholarship awarded to only 20 students across the country: Calgary High School Student Winner of TD Scholarship for Community Leadership. Congratulations Rachel! We are so very proud of you. Student leadership at Scarlett is truly outstanding!
Student Lockers
Student locker cleanout was held at the end of the day on Friday, June 6, 2025. If your student was absent on Friday, please remind them to empty the contents of their locker by the end of the day on Tuesday, June 10 and leave the lock on the locker or a $10.50 replacement fee will be charged to their PowerSchool account. Locker contents not removed by 4:00 pm on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 will be removed and disposed of and/or donated to charity. Failure to remove locker contents may also incur a cleaning charge to the student’s MyCBE fee account. Thank you from the Business Office.
Textbooks, Novels & Graphing Calculators
Students who are no longer using their textbooks, novels or other loaned materials from the school are welcome to return them to our Library Assistant in the Learning Commons. Textbooks may also be returned on exam days prior to exams and must be returned no later than June 25, 2025.
School Fees
Parents, Guardians and Independent Students, please log into your MyCBE fee account and ensure your fees are paid in full for the current and previous school years. If your student’s account has been charged for textbooks, novels or graphing calculators, those fees will be removed from their account when the items have been returned to our Library Assistant and scanned back into the system. Students are responsible for ensuring the items are handed directly to her for scanning, they are not to be handed to teachers or taken to the main office. If the items are lost or damaged, payment can be made in your MyCBE account.
Your CBE Email and Storage After Graduation or When Leaving the CBE
The CBE is reminding all students to save their files they wish to keep on a personal drive prior to June 25, 2025. It is especially important for students who are graduating or leaving the CBE to move all files over to personal storage because they will lose access to their CBE account after August 31, 2025, and their CBE email address and inbox will be deleted permanently.
Anyone who has applied to a post-secondary institution or scholarship with their CBE email address is encouraged to update their email contact information with the organization to which they have applied.
Honouring National Indigenous History Month Through Relationship
National Indigenous History Month is in June and schools reflect on the many ways to recognize and honour the histories, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples. June is an exciting month for Indigenous ways of being, belonging, doing, and knowing:
- June 1-30: National Indigenous History Month in Canada
- June 14-21: Indigenous Awareness Week in Calgary
- June 21: National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada
Pride Month
June is Pride Month, a time to honour the resilience, contributions and rights of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. At Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School and across the Calgary Board of Education (CBE), we seek to support inclusive, welcoming, caring, respectful, and safe learning environments for all students, staff and families, every day.
Athletic Update
Congratulations to our 10 athletes who represented EPS at the Track & Field Provincial Championships this past weekend! There will be a Wind up party Tuesday at Lunch in the Main Gym! Thank you to Mr. Sze, Mr. Drybrough, Ms Nour, Ms Fair and Mr. Stock on another amazing season! We truly appreciate the growing program of Track and Field Athletes who have a chance to participate in so many sports! Go Lancers and thank you to our coaches!!
The Lancers field hockey team had a phenomenal season, entering both the CLFHA Tournament playoffs and the Division 2 City Playoffs as the top ranked team. They lost both semifinals in close games, and displayed outstanding skill and teamwork in every game they played. Their talent, camaraderie and commitment to refining their gameplay embodied the true spirit of Lancers Athletics. Many thanks to our volunteer coaches, Anita Massey, Sarah Barr, and Kathryn Hennebury for contributing their time, expertise and passion to our team! A huge thank you to our teacher coach Ms. Green!
Volleyball Organizational Meeting

Football season is just about here! Spring Camp this year will run from June 16 - June 20 (2:00pm-4:00pm each day). All players, returning and new, should attend. If there are any conflicts with exams, those come first, and players can join us on the field when they are able. If a player needs to be away for another reason, they should discuss it with me.
Equipment handout will take place on June 16th at 1:00pm prior to the first practice. If this conflicts with your exam, please let me know and we will find an alternative for you to receive gear. If you have any other questions, please let me know at spdonovan@cbe.ab.ca. I look forward to seeing everyone out there! Thanks, from Coach Shane Donovan.

Final Exams - Student Information and Report Card Dates
On Friday we had a short Final Exam presentation to our students. The goal was to remind them of a few things they need to remember ahead of final exams commencing next Wednesday, June 11. The PowerPoint reviewed with students can be found here on our website. This PowerPoint also contains the exam schedule, which can also be found on the main part of the website. To summarize a few points:
- Students must have their photo ID on them (either school or government issued)
- Students can bring food and drinks, but these must be in clear, see-through containers, all other containers will be stopped at the door and sent to the Cafeteria for bag check
- Students cannot have phones, digital watches or any other electronic device on their person.
- Textbooks and novels must be returned prior to the end of the year
- Families can expect that we will call them if a student is absent from an exam.
For report cards and comments, the following key dates are important:
- On June 11 marks and comments will be turned off for families and students. This is to allow teachers to begin data entry of final exams, and to enter comments.
- On June 25 report cards will be available to families, with June 2h set aside as our appeals day. Appeals day is available as an optional time for a student to make a last minute appeal. Most problems are not dealt with on Appeals Day as they are addressed earlier than that.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Costa.
Express Bus Service During Exam Period
During the Exam Period, express bus service to Dr. E.P. Scarlett will run regularly until June 19. On June 20, 23, 24, 25, and 26, no express routes to or from Dr. E.P. Scarlett will be available.
After June 19, students who need to attend for exams will be required to take regular transit routes or drive to and from school for the remainder of the Exam Period and during appeal day.
