Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have had a lot of activities this week. Our school's rugby, soccer, field hockey and track and field teams have been having a great season so far. Please come out to cheer them on. There have been a few cancellations due to weather, so please pay attention to our website for updates: https://drepscarlett.cbe.ab.ca/athletics. Go Lancers!

Our first school dance was a big hit this year! We also had an extremely well attended culture week last week! Our field trips for aviation and immunology were exciting and appreciated. Thanks Ms. White for organizing them. We will be hosting Moonlight Knights as a dinner and dance for our music community. See info below.

Field Hockey Team

Congratulations to our field hockey team. We won our game against St. Mary’s 1-0 after scoring in the final minutes of the game! We play in the CLFHA High School Tournament this weekend. Go Lancers go!

Track and Field Team

Come out and support our athletes as they compete in their meets this year! We had a great showing at our first meet on Saturday this weekend. They competed at Foothills Athletic Park. Go Lancers!

Summer School

Sunday is the last day for Summer School registrations for Chinook Learning and CBe-Learn. Students took part in a live stream discussing important information regarding Summer School on April 18 and received an email with registration links that evening. Students can log into the Student Services D2L to view the presentation from home if they missed it. Students can register for either Chinook Learning (in-person) and CBe-Learn courses using the Summer School Registration Form. The form closes at 11:59pm on Sunday, May 5. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate late registrations past this deadline.

Student Services will register students on their behalf, and email confirmations of registration. Students will receive course confirmations via email from Chinook or CBe-Learn the week of June 3 – 7.

School Dance

Scarlett’s first school dance in nearly 20 years was a smashing success. Students enjoyed a live DJ, a beautifully decorated gymnasium, stargazing, board games, glitter tattoos and under the stars themed cupcakes. Thank you to all those that took part, and made the first step in starting a new legacy here at Scarlett. Also, a huge thank you to the Leadership students and staff supervisors who worked so hard to make this event spectacular! A special thank you to our leadership teacher Ms. Ehrmann!

Diversity Council

This year we celebrated the diversity in our school with Culture Week. Our Diversity Council leaders put on an exciting week of activities which included, cultural crafts, a trivia Kahoot, a potluck, fashion show, and scavenger hunt around the school. We are grateful to celebrate our diversity every day, and especially this week! Thank you Diversity Council and Ms. Malayko for your leadership!

Moonlight Knights

The annual Moonlight Knights musical celebration of the hard-working and talented musicians at Dr. E.P. Scarlett will be held on May 9, 2024. This event has been held for the past forty plus years. Students and parents enjoy a casual atmosphere of music, dancing, a silent auction, and other community opportunities. This is a great event to bring grandparents, friends, and neighbors who want to hear good music and have an enjoyable evening. This event is organized by parent volunteers and is held at Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School.

Grad Banquet and Dance

Each person that purchased a Grad Banquet and Dance ticket should have received an email last week informing you of your Table number(s).  Please make note of the Table number so you can find your table at the banquet.  If you did not receive an email with your Table number then check your junk mail.  If it still cannot be found then send an email with the names of all your guests and the email address you entered into Eventbrite to Mrs. Williams (wmwilliams@cbe.ab.ca) .

All guests to the Banquet and Dance or Dance Only must have a ticket with their name on it to enter and re-enter the BMO Hall.  BMO security will refuse entry to anyone without a ticket. Your ticket(s) can be printed or downloaded to your phone from the confirmation email you should have received from Eventbrite when you purchased your ticket(s). There is a link to your ticket(s) contained within that email. Your receipt is NOT your ticket.

All guests coming to the Dance Only should not arrive before 9 pm. BMO security will not permit you into the Hall until that time.

If you have any questions or concerns please email Mrs. Williams (wmwilliams@cbe.ab.ca) or Ms. McGregor (momcgregor@cbe.ab.ca) .

Bamfield Marine Science Centre  Trip October 2024

There are a couple of spots on the Scarlett trip to the Bamfield Marine Science Centre (BMSC) in October 2024. The trip is open to current grade 10 or 11 students with a strong interest in Biology/Ecology/Marine Biology. We will be flying to Nanaimo on October 29 and returning on November 1 (4 days/3 nights). The cost of the trip will be approximately $2000. Interested students/parents should email Mr. McKillop (mdmckillop@cbe.ab.ca) for more information.

The BMSC is a working research station operated by 5 Universities that allows researchers and students to study a wide array of environments – including unique coastal, marine and rainforest habitats. Students will spend their time exploring these environments with a focus on hands on activities in the marine sciences.
