Indigenous Veteran's Day - November 8
November 8th is a day to reflect and remember the contributions and sacrifices made by First Nations, Inuit and Métis in service to Canada. Indigenous Veterans Day is important not only to recognize the sacrifice of Indigenous men and women who served but it is also a time to reflect and understand that not all veterans of Canada were treated equally. Indigenous veterans faced discrimination through denial of benefits, pension, loss of status, and loss of their land to non-Indigenous veterans.
