Dear Parents and Guardians,
Next week will be a busy one for our students. Many students begin researching post secondary interests at this time so there are many possible and optional sessions they may want to go to. Some include a chance for parents to attend as well. Please see calendar above for details. Our sports teams have been very busy. Please visit the Athletic calendar to view upcoming dates: https://school.cbe.ab.ca/school/drepscarlett/extracurricular/athletics/pages/default.aspx.
Request for upcoming Remembrance Day Ceremony
Lancers, if you have a family member or family friend who is a war Veteran or a current member of the Canadian Army and would like to share their story at our Remembrance Day Ceremony on November 8, please email Ms Malayko (kgmalayko@cbe.ab.ca).
Fun Lunch
Thanks to our parents for organizing this for students! Our leadership students will also assist each day. This is an optional service for families and the decision to participate is up to each family. We have not reviewed the health standards at each restaurant so we encourage families to make an informed choice.
Oct 5: Extreme Pita
Oct 12: Little Caesars
Oct 18: Mucho Burrito
Oct 26: Edo
To participate in fun lunches create an account at www.healthyhunger.ca to register. You will be notified when new lunches are posted and be able to view up-coming lunches, place orders and pay for orders online.
Please note that we remain a closed campus at lunchtime, meaning parents should not be coming to the school to have lunch with their student(s). We want to remind families that students need to bring their lunch, bring money to spend on food at the local mini-mall, or have food ordered through Healthy Hunger. Moreover, as a reminder, Skip the Dishes, Door Dash, etc., ordering and delivery are not welcome at Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School. We are sorry as we are not resourced to manage additional deliveries in the main office, and we cannot be responsible for misdirected food. Orders will be returned to the delivering restaurant. Your help with this is greatly appreciated.
Lastly, please note we do not keep student lunches past the day they were expected to pick up their food. We do not have the resources or space to hold and distribute food after lunchtime. In addition, we cannot be responsible for keeping food past its intended serving time because we risk contamination, food spoilage, and food poisoning. Food not claimed on the delivery date will be given to Food Bank and/or thrown out. Due to this no refunds will be given. Thanks so much for your understanding!
Youth En Route
From Oct 2 - Oct 6 Scarlett is participating in "Roll Out Carbon Week" by https://www.youthenroute.ca/ and encouraging students to ride a bike or take transit to school instead of driving. You can log your commute on the QR codes on posters at the school. Map your route out and consider ways to get to school that reduces carbon dioxide emissions. This is sponsored by the Calgary Foundation and there are some prizes involved so be sure to log your commute. Our bike rack is heavily used. We will be bringing bikes in for storage if you do not find room on the rack. Ask your Admin team who are at the front doors every morning for more information on where storage inside will be.
Drama Update
Our Drama program has been undergoing various changes around the theatre to create an immersive experience for audiences in early December. Alongside this, technical theatre teams have begun presenting their ideas and visions so they can come to life. Rehearsals continue with a magnitude of progress and, most importantly, an immensely collaborative and supportive environment amongst the performers.
