Dear Parents and Guardians,

We look forward to the week ahead at Scarlett. Our Senior Football team won the Homecoming game on Friday night against Our Lady of the Rockies! Way to go Scarlett! It was great to have so many fans there. Are you an artist? We are looking for submissions for our yearbook cover. See below. Our cross-country runners and soccer players have had a great start to their season. The girls volleyball teams are at the UofC tournament this weekend.

Please visit the Athletic calendar to view upcoming dates: https://school.cbe.ab.ca/school/drepscarlett/extracurricular/athletics/pages/default.aspx.

We are sending two students to the Provincial competition for golf. Congratulations to Cienna L and Jeffrey G for representing the Lancers on Monday and Tuesday at the provincial competition in Lloydminister.

Fine Arts Update

Our band program and drama program have gotten off to a great start this year. Did you know that our band program is planning a trip to Los Angeles? We are planning to share updates on all the happenings this year in fine arts. More news to come.

Locker Distribution Update

Emails have started to be released to students and should be received in the coming days. The email will include the locker number and the combination of the lock. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you and we are planning for a different approach next year.

Friday School

Our first Friday School will be held on Thursday, September 28, from 3:30 to 5 PM due to the limited amount of Fridays this month. If a student has been referred to Friday school, parents will receive an email from the referring teacher by Wednesday at 4 PM. If a student submits their work prior to Friday, there is no need to attend. Friday School will occur on October 13, October 27, November 3, November 17, December 1, December 15 from 1:30 to 3:00 PM.

Yearbook Cover Design Competition

Calling all artists! We are looking for student submissions of artwork for our 2023-2024 Yearbook Cover. This year’s theme is Lancer Life! Submissions can be drawings, paintings, or digitally crafted. The due date for submissions is Friday September 28. For more information, visit or email Mrs. Basra (room 109; febasra@cbe.ab.ca) or Ms. Orlady (room 105; mcorlady@cbe.ab.ca)

For a limited time only, you can purchase your yearbook and get free icons! This year’s book can be purchased at https://jostensyearbooks.com/?REF=A09700519 for $50. Add personalization, like your student’s name, for $7. Don’t miss out! This is not a school fee in Power School. Instead, please purchase from Jostens directly and keep your receipt for pick-up in June.

Fun Lunches are Coming Back

We are excited to announce that Fun Lunches will be coming back on Thursdays in October! Go to www.healthyhunger.ca to register your student and create your account. You will be notified when new lunches are posted and be able to view up-coming lunches, place orders and pay for orders online.

Please note that we remain a closed campus at lunchtime, meaning parents should not be coming to the school to have lunch with their student(s). We want to remind families that students need to bring their lunch, bring money to spend on food at the local mini-mall, or have food ordered through Healthy Hunger. Moreover, as a reminder, Skip the Dishes, Door Dash, etc., ordering and delivery are not welcome at Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School. We are sorry as we are not resourced to manage additional deliveries in the main office, and we cannot be responsible for misdirected food. Orders will be returned to the delivering restaurant. Your help with this is greatly appreciated.

Lastly, please note we do not keep student lunches past the day they were expected to pick up their food. We do not have the resources or space to hold and distribute food after lunchtime. In addition, we cannot be responsible for keeping food past its intended serving time because we risk contamination, food spoilage, and food poisoning. Food not claimed on the delivery date will be given to Food Bank and/or thrown out. Due to this no refunds will be given. Thanks so much for your understanding!
