Music Update

The Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School music program participated in the Alberta International Band Festival this month. Performances by our jazz bands, jazz combos and concert bands received valuable feedback and scores that will help refine preparations for upcoming concerts, including the Winds From The South Concert at the Jack Singer Concert Hall on Monday, March 2.

Congratulations to Scarlett’s Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band, who both earned Gold Awards with scores over 90%!

Winds From The South Concert Information

Monday, March 2, 2026
Location: Jack Singer Concert Hall

For any musician, performing for a live audience is an exhilarating experience. Add a large audience and one of the finest music performance venues in Canada, the moment is memorable and potentially life changing!

The Dr. E.P. Scarlett music program has invited our feeder schools to this event, and this year, musicians from David Thompson, Robert Warren, Harold Panabaker and Woodman will be joining us for this fast-paced concert. Students, families, and guests alike will witness the fine music making that takes place every day in the band rooms of our great schools.

The concert is open to all, so invite your friends, family and co-workers along for this evening extravaganza. The tickets are on sale for the low price of $17 (plus theatre fees and taxes), which helps to offset the cost of renting this incredible venue.

  • PARENTS: The doors will open at 6:00 pm with the concert scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM. At the conclusion of the evening (approx. 8:45 PM after we load the truck), please take your student home with you, as there is no transportation provided back to the school.
  • PARKING: This is underground parking in the Arts Common building. Access is on MacLeod Trail, just after 9 Avenue, on the left side of the street. There is also a parking lot on the south side of 9 Avenue, after 1 Street SE and before Macleod Trail.
  • TICKETS: Tickets are available at the Arts Commons box office site.

Practice Lockdown

On the morning of Tuesday, March 3, we will conduct a practice lockdown in partnership with the Calgary Police Service. Student safety remains our top priority, and practicing emergency procedures ensures everyone is prepared in the event of an emergency.
