Dear Parents & Guardians,

We have had an amazing weekend so far. Our Junior Girls basketball team won on Friday night at the Div 2 City Finals! We are incredibly proud of this team that has such depth, work ethic and resiliency. Our Senior Boys dug deep against a tough competitor in St. Francis on Saturday to become the Div 2 City Champions!  They are consistent, work like a team and have so much talent! Way to go Lancers!

We would like to thank our Jr. Girls coach Annika Senebald and volunteer coaches Tyler and Katie along with our Sr. Boys coach Cale Bauer and volunteer coaches Jake and Luca. We’d also like to thank our teacher coaches Erika Chilton who coached Jr. Boys and Carson Reveen with Sr. Girls. Thanks to our volunteer coaches with these teams Cole, Joelle, Tara, Russ, Nate and Cass.

The Scarlett Improv Team won the Loose Moose High School Theatre sports Tournament on Friday night! They ended up playing St Francis as well and tying up the match and having to play an overtime hat game! We could not be more proud of you all! Thank you Mr. Owen Chan for all you do for drama at Scarlett!

Just a reminder that we set our clocks ahead an hour on Sunday morning and get to see each other one hour earlier on Monday.

Parent Survey – Planning for Next Year

On Monday, Feb 26 we shared a lot of information at our parent meeting at School Council. We discussed our School Development Plan, budget and fees. We got feedback from parents on these items at that meeting. We have also set up a survey for all our parents and guardians to share your thoughts. This PowerPoint was used that night and contains information on the School Development Plan, this year’s budget and fees to assist you: https://drepscarlett.cbe.ab.ca/documents/47e9759d-934b-4fd9-9b1c-925107784f90/School-Planning-Engagement-Feb-2024.pdf

Music Update

Our student musicians have been working incredibly hard over the course of the last few weeks. Monday brought together 497 music students from five different schools to gather as one for our annual Winds from the South concert at the Jack Singer Concert Hall. A great opportunity for us to recognize and celebrate as a larger music family. Thanks to everyone that was able to come out and enjoy the show.

The second part of the week saw our Jazz Bands competing at the Alberta International Band Festival (which our Concert Band played at last week). Congratulations to all of our ensembles that took part! We had some incredibly successful performances and were provided with the opportunity to improve with guidance from the adjudicators in our post-performance clinics. Jazz 1, Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band all won Gold Awards while our other ensembles have lots to be proud of as we continue to work hard and embrace this musical journey.

Joyeux 50e anniversaire l'immersion française!

This year, CBE is celebrating 50 years of French Immersion programming in Calgary! That’s 50 years of students challenging themselves to learn an additional language, 50 years of committed teachers searching out authentic cultural opportunities for their students, and 50 years of families watching their child become fluent in both of Canada’s official languages. Numerous students and staff from Scarlett are in the CBE video showcasing this.
